First site is working
The customer understands the product enough to know whether it fits somebody else.
Customer referral path
Customers can become affiliates when they have a genuine recommendation to make. The production system should invite this after meaningful success moments—not nag every customer on every login.
Good moments
The customer understands the product enough to know whether it fits somebody else.
A successfully completed move is a natural moment to explain the referral program.
Only after the service has had time to prove useful—not immediately after checkout.
Where appropriate and consent/preferences allow, a genuinely helpful support resolution can surface the program once.
What production should do
Do not invite suspended accounts, unresolved payment/fraud cases, customers who opted out of the relevant communications, or customers already active as affiliates.
Show the real eligible services, current commission rate, validation hold, threshold and reversal rules from the live affiliate configuration.
Once required terms are accepted, give the customer the tracked link and first-referral path.
Record dismissed/activated state so the customer is not repeatedly nagged across the client area and email.

The commission is the incentive for useful distribution—not a reason to turn every conversation into a pitch.
