Canadian charities

Free hosting built for registered Canadian charities.

One 10 GB Standard Shared account at C$0 for each approved current Canadian registered charity, with additional free accounts available by manual review for distinct legitimate needs.

C$0

10 GB charity hosting

No hosting setup fee and no recurring hosting charge while the organization remains eligible and completes annual reverification.

Unlimited

Traffic and hosted mailbox count

Traffic is unmetered at the plan level and mailbox count has no numeric cap. Fair-use, abuse, safety, and the account's 10 GB total storage quota still apply.

20%

Plus and Pro discount

Approved charities receive 20% recurring off eligible paid Standard Shared Plus and Pro services.

Free base plan

A real hosting account, not a temporary teaser.

The free plan stays C$0 while the charity remains eligible. It is sized for a practical website and hosted-email workload without requiring a web-design or SEO purchase.

01

10 GB total account storage

Website files, databases, and email share the account storage quota. The quota keeps the service sustainable while leaving substantially more room than a token brochure-site account.

02

Unlimited hosted email accounts within storage

There is no numeric mailbox-count cap on the charity plan. Mail remains subject to the same storage quota, security controls, outbound abuse/rate protections, and Acceptable Use Policy as other hosted email.

03

SSL, PHP, WordPress, databases, DNS, and support

The plan supports ordinary charity websites and common PHP/WordPress workloads with HTTPS, database access, email, DNS, and DotMoose support.

04

Canadian-hosted Standard Shared platform

The service uses the same DotMoose Standard Shared platform and lifecycle controls used for paid Shared customers. There is no separate second-class free-hosting stack.

Eligibility

CRA registration and applicant authority are both checked.

A registration number by itself is not enough to claim an organization's hosting.

CRA

Current Registered status

The organization must appear as Registered in the Canada Revenue Agency List of Charities at approval and annual reverification.

Authority

Applicant must be authorized

DotMoose separately verifies that the applicant is reasonably authorized to act for the charity, using organization-controlled contact details, listed roles, or another documented path.

Annual

Reverification with a grace period

Eligibility is reviewed annually. A missed review enters a 30-day grace period before the free service is suspended; paid benefits revert only after that grace expires. Domains are never seized.

More than one site

Additional free when justified; larger plans are discounted.

+Free

Additional free services by review

A charity can request another free 10 GB service for a distinct legitimate project or operational need. Additional free services can only be granted manually by DotMoose; they cannot be self-claimed.

C$7.99

Charity Plus

20% off C$9.99/month. A qualifying paid Plus service may include one standard non-premium one-year .ca or .com registration or transfer and recurring renewal while eligible.

C$14.39

Charity Pro

20% off C$17.99/month with the same one-domain eligibility on each qualifying paid Pro service.

Included-domain eligibility does not make DotMoose the owner of the domain. The charity remains the registrant where registry rules require it, transfer authorization remains protected, and ordinary renewal pricing resumes if the linked paid service or charity program is no longer eligible.

Do Canadian nonprofits that are not registered charities qualify?

The free-charity program launches specifically for organizations with current Registered status in the CRA List of Charities. Other nonprofits are not automatically eligible for the registered-charity program. Canadian volunteer-led community organizations can apply through the Community Volunteer Hosting program, and Canadian fire departments, including volunteer departments, have a separate Fire Department Hosting program.

What does unlimited bandwidth mean?

DotMoose does not impose a plan-level transfer quota on this service. It does not mean infinite capacity or permission for abusive workloads. Network safety, fair use, storage, process/resource, mail-abuse, and legal restrictions still apply.

What happens if our site grows beyond the free plan?

We can help remediate inefficient usage first, approve another free service for a distinct need where appropriate, or move a workload to an eligible Plus/Pro service at the charity rate. The goal is continuity, not using resource pressure as a surprise upsell.

Is the domain free on the C$0 plan?

No. The free base hosting account does not include a domain. The one-domain benefit is attached only to eligible paid Charity Plus/Pro services.

Will our free account suddenly start billing?

No. The free base product remains a C$0 hosting entitlement while eligible. Annual review has a grace period. If eligibility is not renewed, the free service is suspended; it is never silently converted into a paid subscription.
