Capacity calculator

Translate bandwidth into actual monthly transfer.

Model sustained line rate and transfer time in both decimal and binary units, or work backwards from a transfer target.

Or calculate the average line rate needed to move a known amount:

Bits

Mbps is bits per second

Storage is measured in bytes, so the calculator divides line rate by eight before applying the time window.

TB/TiB

Decimal and binary units

TB uses powers of 1000; TiB uses powers of 1024. The tool shows both rather than silently mixing them.

Average

Real traffic is bursty

A sustained-rate estimate is useful for capacity planning but real applications usually vary by time of day and caching.

Overhead

Protocol overhead is not modeled

Ethernet/IP/TCP/TLS overhead and retransmissions are intentionally not guessed here.
