Affiliate program update

DotMoose affiliate referral tracking is now six months

DotMoose affiliate links now track referrals for up to six months. That gives a prospective customer more time to compare hosting, plan a migration, finish a client project, or return when they are ready to buy while the referral cookie remains available for attribution.

The DotMoose affiliate terms now use a 180-day referral window

As of September 7, 2026, the DotMoose affiliate program uses a six-month referral tracking window. The program continues to pay 20% recurring commission on qualifying DotMoose-operated service revenue, with a 30-day validation hold after a qualifying sale and a C$25 withdrawal threshold.

The six-month tracking window and the 30-day validation hold are different clocks. Tracking determines whether a later order can still be attributed to the affiliate. Validation begins after a qualifying sale and gives the transaction time to clear the program's normal review period.

Most programs in our current comparison stop at three months or less

We checked the official affiliate pages or terms for seven major hosting and domain companies on September 7, 2026. Six of the seven publish referral-cookie or tracking windows of 90 days or less. DotMoose uses 180 days.

This is a dated spot-check of the programs below, not a claim about every hosting affiliate program. Providers can change their terms, so the source links are included for verification.

In this comparison, DotMoose is at the long end of the market: our 180-day window matches WP Engine and is longer than the 30-, 60-, and 90-day windows published by the other six programs checked.

Why a longer referral window is better for slow hosting decisions

Hosting is not always an impulse purchase. A freelancer may recommend a provider while a site is still being built. A business may need budget approval. A migration may be scheduled around a quieter week. A customer may compare plans more than once before checking out.

A 180-day window gives the original referral more time to remain attributable through that decision process. It does not guarantee a commission: the referral cookie still has to remain present, browser privacy controls can affect it, and the order still has to qualify under the program terms. But affiliates do not have to rely on a customer buying within only 30, 60, or 90 days.

Six months of tracking plus recurring commission

The tracking window solves one problem: how long an affiliate has to receive attribution before the sale happens. Recurring commission solves another: what happens after an eligible referred customer keeps using a qualifying DotMoose service.

DotMoose pays 20% recurring commission on qualifying service revenue. That means a good referral can continue earning commission while eligible service revenue continues, subject to the current program terms, exclusions, refunds, reversals, and validation rules.

For affiliates who create tutorials, client handoff guides, hosting comparisons, migration content, or small-business education, the combination is deliberate: more time for the customer to make the first decision, then recurring economics when the referral becomes a retained customer.

Where to verify the current program

The announcement on this page is dated. The DotMoose affiliate program page and affiliate terms are the current first-party sources for commission eligibility, tracking, validation, withdrawals, prohibited activity, and other program rules.

If we change a material affiliate term again, those pages are the authoritative place to check the current version.
